Collection: How to Configure a UFODAP System

There are two ways to order a complete UFODAP system:

  1. Order one of the pre-configured collections of components from the System collection. Note that you will need to separately order software and optional RF receiver and antenna for an MSDAU.  Or --
  2. Order a collection of individual components and accessories per the following steps:

If your system will include a camera:

  1. Select a camera from the Cameras collection.
  2. Select a camera mount to match your camera type (fixed or PTZ), from the Fixed or PTZ Camera Mounts collections. Any type of camera can be mounted on a wall, pole, or tripod.  Note that the tripod mounts for fixed cameras work with standard tripods with ¼-20 threads.  PTZ tripod mounts use the heavier-duty, more stabile 5/8-11 thread tripods.
  3. If the camera is to be combined with an MSDAU on a common tripod mount, then only order one System Mount from the MSDAU Mounts collection for both.

If your system will include an MSDAU:

  1. Select an MSDAU from the MSDAU Collection.
  2. Select an MSDAU mount from the MSDAU Mounts Collection.
  • If your MSDAU will be mounted on a flat, vertical surface, then no additional mount is required.
  • If your MSDAU will not be combined with a camera, then select the tripod or pole mount.
  • If the MSDAU will be combined with a camera on a common tripod mount, then select the System Mount.
  1. If you want the RF Scanning capability, then select one of the two Software-Defined Radio (SDR) options and an antenna from the Accessories Collection.

Add the following components:

  1. Select a PoE Injector from Accessories. You will need one Injector PoE port per camera or MSDAU.
  • If you have only one camera, then a 30W, single output unit would work.
  • If you have more than one camera then use the 60W, multiple output unit.
  • If you are powering just an MSDAU, then use the 60W, single output unit.
  • If you want to power multiple cameras and MSDAUs, then use the 4-port, 60W unit.
  1. Include the 7ft Ethernet cable which will be used to connect the PoE Injector to your router.
  2. Include one longer (100ft or 200ft) cable for each camera or MSDAU.

Add the following software applications:

-- If your system has at least one camera, then add the Optical Tracking Data Acquisition Unit (OTDAU) software.

-- Add the Mission Control (MC) software if any of the following are true:

  • You will have more than one camera and will be able to separate them for some distance and you would like to triangulate target locations.
  • You have at least one MSDAU. MC is required for MSDAU setup and to view and record MSDAU data.
  • You will have one or more cameras and want the MC’s ability to display the status of up to 6 OTDAU or MSDAU data at once and display and record weather conditions and local aircraft flights.

Add any additional Accessories you may need such as a heavy-duty tripod for each System Mount or tripod-mounted camera or a transport case for field work.

Note that you only need to purchase one copy of OTDAU or MC no matter how many copies you want to run simultaneously on one or more computers if they are for your personal use.
